Adjunctive Therapy

Comprehensive service of daily programs designed for each individual to improve or maintain interaction and social skills, cognitive skills or physical skills. Programs use a variety of media such as art, dance, music, computers, sensory stimulation, exercise activities, and recreation to facilitate goal development, which is reviewed as part of the ISP. Continuous quality improvement is assured through quarterly quality improvement reviews of client ISPs, involvement of clients in their Individual Service Plans and the response to satisfaction survey results by Lucy Idol Center staff and administration. The following services are provided under the umbrella of Adjunctive Therapy:

Under the supervision of the Psychologist and the Registered Nurse, Activity Therapists, assisted by classroom Aides implement individual service plans and conduct daily classroom programs for enhancement of functional, behavioral, and psycho-social skills, behavior support, communication, recreation and community integration. Also implemented are physical development activities designed to maintain optimum health status of individuals. Physical development targets activities like posture, stretching, balance, gait improvement, weight bearing, and wheelchair positioning. Sensory stimulation is also included in service provision.
